FOTOFEST 2008
12th International Biennial Month of Photography

March 7 - April 20, 2008

Houston, TX, March 7, 2008: Art and Design Group is proud to present

“A View of Africa” in conjunction with FOTOFEST 2008 - 12th International Biennial Month of Photography, March 7 - April 20, 2008.

This exhibition will explore the travels of Prairie View A & M University professor’s Dr. Clarence Talley Sr., through East and West Africa & the journey of Ann “Sole Sister” Johnson through South Africa. Each artist will present a unique collection of traditional and unique mixed media photographs.

Dr. Talley examines his travels with traditional photographs depicting life in Ghana and Tanzania. Those familiar with Talley’s work will recognize a few of his unique mixed media works in the midst of exhibit.

Ms. Johnson’s approach is predominately mixed media. Chronicling her journey through Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Zimbabwe, Johnson uses the ancient encaustic technique by transferring original images of her photographs to a wax surface and adorning the wax with found objects.

Shandra N. Ward of Art and Design Group is the curator of this unique blend of traditional and contemporary art.
